Paris Saint-Germain’s dream on signing Julian Weigl this January might not come into reality as Borussia Dortmund are not keen on selling.
Dortmund’s decision to keep Weigl was stated by the Bundesliga club’s Michael Zorc, who also explained that they are happy with his recent performances.
“Julian Weigl will stay in Dortmund. He has already played very well against Gladbach before the winter break and once again showed a brilliant performance tonight, especially when keeping in mind that he usually plays in midfield,” Zorc stated to the media.
The director made that statements following his team’s recent victory over RB Leipzig, in which Weigl once again was playing as center back.
Knowing that Dortmund are currently short in numbers due to injuries, Weigl becomes an important player for them to have.
Albeit hasn’t been getting consistent playing time early on, but the German international seems to find some space in recent games.
Despite mostly because of the injury problems that have been hitting Dortmund, but that pretty much forced the club to keep him at least until the end of season.
PSG themselves are becoming very desperate in getting a new midfielder after Adrien Rabiot’s case and recent injury to Marco Veratti.
